Infographic: How’s Southeast Asia Performing In The Internet Speed Race?

Last year, the Oxford Internet Institute has revealed that 42% of the world’s Internet users live in Asia. However, is the demand for the web being met with decent internet speeds?

ASEAN DNA has release a new infographic stating that the average internet speed in Southeast Asia is currently 12.4 Mbps, which is a bit behind the average global speed of 17.5 Mbps.

With speeds of 61 Mbps, Singapore still leads the race and telcos in Singapore are already offering 1 Gbps internet speeds. Meanwhile, the Philippines fared worst with a measured average speed of just 3.6 Mbps. However the nation’s telcos do have faster internet packages available.

The results were obtained by analyzing test data between March 7th, 2014 and April 5th, 2014.
