Celcom Bolt – The Latest Celcom 4G LTE Campaign

Celcom Axiata Bhd has announced that Usain Bolt will be its latest icon to represent the “Celcom’s Fastest Territory” campaign and Celcom 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE).

For this campaign, it will focus on a few states, including the Federal Territory, Selangor, Penang, Perak, Johor and Malacca for LTE equipment installation that can offer speed Internet 10 times more than now.

According to Zalman Aafendy Zainal Abidin, chief marketing official of Celcom Axiata, “The campaign is about speed and to state our dominance in coverage by putting a human face in association with speed. We feel the message about this network belongs to our customers hence we bring them the icon of fastest networks and the network is theirs.”

The campaign, which began on 22 April, started with teaser billboards featuring a silhouette of Bolt on high traffic areas along LDP and USJ Summit 11 days prior to the official campaign launch.

Celcom has also introduced an official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/celcomfirstfanpage) for this purpose. Fans can participate in “Can You Bolt?” contest by submitting pictures imitating Bolt’s famous pose.

Through this campaign, Celcom targets early adopters and its existing data customers who want data access with high bandwidth.

Zalman noted that Celcom was targeting to sell about one million for all data modems including the 4G LTE-based this year.

In a previous report, Celcom said it planned to allocate RM100mil as capital expenditure to roll out its LTE programme.

In conjunction with the launch of its LTE today, the telco announced that it will be offering a 4G LTE modem along with 3 months of Celcom First data plan for only RM199. Available from tomorrow onwards at selected Blue Cube outlets, the first 1,000 subscribers will get 10GB of data worth RM138 a month for 3 months when they purchase a Celcom 4G LTE Modem for RM199.

Celcom 4G LTE can provide for lightning fast speed of up to 10x faster than before, giving users a more seamless internet experience with “no lagging, no waiting and no delays for all your streaming, downloading and gaming needs”. There are no contracts tied to this deal, the Celcom First Data Pro that comes with the modem has a maximum speed of 50Mbps.
