Huawei has launched the industry’s first urban rail transportation solution based on enterprise LTE (eLTE) to Zhengzhou Metro Co., Ltd. (Zhengzhou Metro) in China.
The solution has bilateral transmission channels within high reliability for train to ground voice, data and video communication which improving overall operational efficiency of transport routes.
During the event, Huawei executives, representatives of Zhengzhou Metro experts in transportation design local and foreign institutions, industrial partners and journalists from around the world gathered to perform in-depth discussions, sharing visions and experience innovation of wireless communications in the subway and the evolution that leads to eLTE industry.
A testament of Huawei’s customer-centric innovation and strength in LTE adoption in the enterprise domain, the solution of urban transport by eLTE deployed in Zhengzhou Metro received the Technology Innovation Award from the World Railway Development and Research Society in April this year. The solution has professional technology anti-interference, addressing the needs of metro operators in various applications, including information passenger system (PIS), closed circuit television, vehicle-mounted video surveillance, communication-based train control (CBTC), and broadband trunking.

Zhengzhou Metro is the first urban transport operator to deploy Huawei’s eLTE urban rail transportation solution in Line 1 of Zhengzhou’s metro system to help resolve the problems caused by disconnected communication networks between train and ground communication systems, interference, and service intermittence.
Huawei eLTE provides wide frequency menus, including 400M / 800M / 1.4G / 1.8G / 2.3G / 2.6G / 3.5G / 3.7G / 5.8GHz, according to the railway operator’s frequency resources. Beyond this, the solution offers a multi-series of products. For example, the terminal includes a handset, a cab radio, and a video camera, which can be used by conductors, drivers, and dispatchers. Anticipating a complex geographic environment, both traditional macro Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), and advanced distributed BTSs can be used to fulfill the coverage for desert environments, tunnels, bridges, etc.
