Alcatel-Lucent has announced that its LTE solution has been selected by China Telecom to conduct field tests of the national system operator for mobile broadband speed. Thus, it becomes one of their top three suppliers for network infrastructure that will operate in the modes of LTE TDD and FDD.
The market in China is currently the world’s largest market of users, data services, mobile and smart phones, and is growing at over 50 percent per year. At present, China Telecom has more than 181 million mobile customers across the country.
China Telecom has selected the Alcatel-Lucent’s lightRadio LTE Radio Access Network (RAN) systems for its new nationwide ultra-broadband mobile access network. Thus, Alcatel-Lucent will provide 9,892 base stations, one of the three main suppliers for China Telecom to deploy LTE-TDD and LTE-FDD technologies in 12 provinces of China.
China Telecom has more than 181 million users, and is expanding its LTE network to help meet the constant increase in demand for mobile Internet services in high speed largest smartphone market in the world.
The agreement with China Telecom comes on the heels of two major LTE-TDD agreements with China Mobile and Sprint, re-inforcing Alcatel-Lucent’s leadership in LTE, which has exceeded 40 contracts LTE commercial deployments including 8 of the 10 largest global suppliers of services.
With the momentum of Shift Plan for industrial repositioning of Alcatel-Lucent as a specialist supplier in Ultra Wide Band and IP Networks access solutions, China Telecom underline the importance of technology to provide a transition solutions of ultra-broadband access and provide the benefits of these solutions.
