A new study has revealed EE to be the fastest mobile broadband provider in London. An independent consumer advocate, RootMetrics has conducted a research – which carried out 86,000 mobile performance tests in the capital – showed that EE offers faster download speeds than Vodafone, O2 and Three.

In the London area, EE recorded average download speeds of 19.3Mb and upload speeds of 12.9Mb, which means that these broadband speeds were nearly 10Mb faster than those achieved by any rival operator.
Orange and Deutsche Telekom now favour London debut that would allow them to keep a foothold in the British market, it is understood. Olaf Swantee, EE’s chief executive said that after the flotation he aims to take advantage of a London listing to help increase sales of mobile services to businesses. While it is Britain’s biggest operator following the merger of Orange UK and T-Mobile UK, it lags behind Vodafone and O2 among corporate customers.
EE has announced plans to shake up its 4G mobile contracts and home broadband bundles with the promise of free data for anyone signing up to both services. Customers already qualify for a £5 monthly discount when taking out a fiber broadband package if they have a 4G mobile contract, but from the 30th of October they will also earn bonus mobile data allowances based on their price plan.
