Bath entrepreneurs will benefit with the launch of GigaBath, a fibre deployment which bringing broadband of up to 1,000 megabits per second.
GigaBath would cover an area from James Street West, through Charles Street, Chapel Row, Queen Square, Gay Street, Barton Street, George Street, down Broad Street and across Westgate Street.
Further extensions will cover Walcot Street, the Tramshed and Beehive Yard; Great Pultney Street; and the Circus round to Brock Street. Customer demand will then determine the next areas.
At the moment the average speed for broadband in the city is two to three megabits, which makes the download and more significantly the upload of large documents or video conferencing difficult.
