Orange Romania has announced that starting from April 7, 2014, the operator will allow 4G mobile internet services at speeds up to 150 Mbps in 90 cities in Romania, including all county. In total, 4G network covers over 1,000 cities and 45% of the population, said Stefan Slavnicu, technical director of Orange Romania. Moreover, he added that the network is ready for 4G+ technology which enables download speeds of up to 300Mbps, and these speeds will be tested starting next week in parts of Bucharest and in five other cities: Cluj, Brasov , Iasi, Timisoara and Constanta.
“In the big cities 4G coverage is 100% and the cities served by a smaller number of stations is a densification process so that the signal is present outdoor and indoor to be present,” said Stefan Slavnicu.
Julien Ducarroz, commercial director of Orange Romania, also showed the benefits of 4G technology compared to 3G. According to Julien, a movie of 750 MB will be downloaded in a minute and 40 seconds with the new 4G speed Internet, compared with 15 minutes and 23 seconds that would last through the 3G technology.
