First Community Connected in Superfast West Yorks Broadband Rollout

Halifax’s Old Fountain Brewery housing estate has become the first community to see its broadband connectivity improved through the Superfast West Yorkshire programme. Superfast West Yorkshire is investing just under £22 million in its rollout, which is aiming to bring the technology within reach of 97 per cent of properties across the county by the end of 2015. It is also looking to deliver universal speeds of at least 2Mbps.

Fibre optic broadband went live in the area last Friday (11 April 2014) – three months ahead of the original schedule – and will ultimately be deployed to thousands of homes and businesses across Calderdale, the metropolitan borough comprising Brighouse, Elland, Halifax, Sowerby Bridge, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden.
