Omantel has recently completed major enhancement of its 4G and 3.5G networks in Dhofar Governorate to cater to the needs of visitors to the governorate during this monsoon season.
The enhancement, which involved installing new permanent and temporary stations, will not only expand the coverage but will further increase the network capacity to handle the increasing demand during this time of the year, especially for broadband services.
Omantel’s H1 revenue rises 2.1%
Omantel’s revenue has for the first six months increased to OMR239.3 million from OMR234.5 million the same period of 2012 while the net profit stood at OMR60.5 million against OMR62 million in 2012. Its domestic customer base has grown by 9.3 per cent while the group customer base has also grown by 6.6 per cent year-on-year. Omantel board approved distributing interim dividend of 40 per cent of the share nominal value to be paid to registered shareholders by the end of trading hours of Thursday August 29, 2013.
Commenting on the network enhancements during the Salalah Tourism Festival, Haitham Abdullah Al Kharusi, vice-president of Consumer Business Unit at Omantel, said, “During this period of the year, Salalah welcomes tens of thousands of visitors from the Sultanate and neighbouring countries. We are committed to ensure that our customers, along with in-roaming customers, enjoy the best services.
To enhance the customer services, Omantel has deployed WiFi Zones at key areas including Khareef Festival grounds and other tourism attractions. On a promotional basis, Omantel Hayyak and Mada Mobile Broadband customers can enjoy free WiFi as part of the benefit for their MMB Plan packages.
