Recently, MTS, the leading full-service communications provider for residential and business customers in Manitoba, has announced the launch of its 4G LTE Network in Ste. Anne, the sixth Manitoban community to receive the service this year. Residents can now experience faster-than-ever wireless download and upload speeds on the latest LTE-enabled wireless devices.
Regional-carrier MTS has fulfilled its promise of bringing LTE (Long Term Evolution) speeds to additional markets this year. The company previously declared that by the end of 2013 they would expand past Winnipeg and Brandon and go live with LTE in another 6 locations.
“MTS committed to connecting six more Manitoba communities to its 4G LTE wireless network before the end of 2013, and with the addition of Ste. Anne, we completed our goal. More than 800,000 Manitobans now have access to blazing-fast LTE wireless coverage from MTS,” said MTS President Kelvin Shepherd.
MTS was the first to bring 4G LTE technology to Winnipeg and Brandon in 2012. MTS has since launched 4G LTE wireless service in Victoria Beach, Grand Beach, Portage la Prairie, Selkirk, Steinbach and now Ste. Anne. Customers using LTE-enabled devices outside of MTS’s 4G LTE Wireless Network coverage area will transfer to MTS’s 4G HSPA+ Wireless Network, which covers 97 per cent of the Manitoba population.
The expansion of the MTS 4G LTE Wireless Network is part of a $40 million investment MTS is making in its rural Manitoba networks in 2013. In addition to 4G LTE, the investment includes launching MTS’s DSL-based high-speed Internet service in 20 new communities, and an expansion of MTS’s fibre-to-the-home technology, also known as the MTS FiON Network, to an additional 5,000 homes throughout the province.
