Federal Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull says Tasmania’s rollout of the National Broadband Network has been the fastest in the country. The minister defended the progress of the fixed line NBN rollout but could not guarantee when all north-west residents would get access to the technology.
Around 100,000 homes and business across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie will be connected to the National Broadband Network by the end of 2015. NBN Co has revealed the region will be central to the start of its roll out of fibre-to-the-node technology in 140 suburbs in New South Wales and Queensland.
